At Boston Renewables, we provide advanced commercial battery storage systems that store the energy generated by your installed solar PV. Our smart batteries charge when your panels produce excess power, then discharge during peak times to cut your energy costs and maximise savings. With built-in backup power and our expert support from design to maintenance, we help you make your energy more secure, efficient, and future-ready.
Ready to unlock the full value of your solar energy?
Contact our Team...Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) are smart, flexible solutions that allow businesses to store excess renewable energy — such as power generated from your solar PV system — and release it precisely when it’s needed most. By storing surplus energy during periods of high generation and discharging it during peak demand, a BESS helps smooth out energy loads, reduce costly peak power charges, and maximise the use of clean, self-generated electricity. This not only cuts energy costs significantly but also lowers reliance on grid-supplied electricity, delivering measurable carbon savings and supporting sustainability goals.
At the heart of every BESS is the Battery Management System (BMS) — an intelligent control system that automates how your batteries charge, store, and release energy. Once programmed, your BMS continuously monitors your site’s energy flows and optimises performance around the clock, ensuring your system works seamlessly with minimal input while driving long-term resilience, efficiency, and carbon reduction for your business.
Load shifting achieves savings on electricity bills. This means a battery will supply power to your site at times of high tariff. Batteries can either take in surplus electricity from onsite renewable generation (such as a Solar PV Array) or from the grid during the night. This saved power is then available for use during peak-time tariff periods, such as in the morning and evening.
A battery providing frequency response services to the National Grid generates additional revenue. Frequency response is the seamless taking in and giving back of electricity to the grid. At pre-agreed times of the day, batteries can provide service to the national grid and in return, you will receive income for providing the service.
Batteries are also suitable for use as uninterrupted power supplies. In areas where the National Grid network is weak and ‘brownouts’ occur, a battery can be very effective at mitigating the cost of lost production due to power failure.
